First Christmas For Us
Wow, I have been really bad about posting! So, I will do a really quick update before you can get to the good Christmas photos. Hannah is doing really well in school. Her ENL teacher just tested her and she is reading and comprehending at a third grade level already — amazing after just 9 months home. We’ve gone through some more firsts with Hannah. Her first Thanksgiving, her first real snow and her first time sledding. The big first, though, is her first Christmas. When we got our Christmas tree up and the house decorated, Hannah was pretty excited. But that was nothing compared to when she first saw some presents under the tree for her. She lit up and squealed and had to look at all of them. Then came the “When can I open one?” I never realized how much fun it can be to torture kids about the presents. It also gave us a lot of parental leverage for good behavior — PRICELESS! Her excitement about the presents was incredible and she actually told us in all seriousness that she was going to die if she couldn’t open one. (Does she have “drama queen” down or what?) I just have to add as well that we have been trying to teach her about Jesus’ birth and the beauty of giving and not just receiving. She is very receptive to the Nativity story and Jesus. Her favorite decorations are the manger scenes. However, that all went out the window when the presents were opened. Oh well….there’s always next year. Enjoy the photos and the video. New Year resolution: post more!
