Family Updates For March 2010
Here are the current happenings in our family:

Gotcha Plus 1 Year

One year ago today we met Hannah. She burst into the room where we were waiting, ran to us, and gave us a big hug, giggling the whole time. Holding her in our arms for the first time was an indescribably magical moment. It felt so right we just knew she was our daughter. We were head over heals in love. God had blessed us beyond our wildest dreams.

Here we are one year later and she continues to amaze us. She’s gained 16 pounds and grown 5 inches. She is speaking English and can read at a mid-3rd grade level. She has made many new friends and has effortlessly conquered any obstacles that dared to stand in her way. Most importantly, she is still that giggly, smart, huggable, courageous, beautiful girl who ran away with our hearts a year ago. Every time she calls out "mommy" or "daddy" we thank God that we have the privilege of calling her daughter.

Hannah, our daughter, we love you with all our hearts, now and forever. May God continue to bless our family. Happy anniversary!

A final note...

Here is a video of our "gotcha" moment with Hannah. We weren't sure we wanted to share it with the world but decided to with Hannah’s permission. It is our hope that it might inspire others to adopt older children. They are utterly amazing children . . . so amazing that we will be going to China later this year to adopt our second daughter, Sarah. She is 9 years old.

The Green Dragon

As promised, here is the update for the AWANA Pinewood Derby. Hannah did all the work on the car herself with Jon supervising. She picked the style, the color and the decals. She was pretty proud of her results.

The little internet research that we did on pinewood derby cars apparently paid off since Hannah took first place in all her races. Can you believe it? They dubbed her amazing car "The Purple Smurple". We actually prefer the name we gave it, "The Green Dragon" — it has a much meaner sound to it.

Just check out the video to see how fast her car was. We also have a video of Hannah receiving her 1st place speed trophy. Hopefully this love of speed will not carry through to her driving years.

Also, time seems to be flying as Gotcha day was one year ago today. I hope to do another post very soon of the video from that day.

Enjoy the photos and videos.
